SELS is pleased to announce our Third Annual Charity Poker Tournament. This event will take place on Thursday, October 29th, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Lounge at the FIU College of Law. The buy-in for the event is $20 per person and the winner’s charity will receive all of the proceeds in the winner’s name.
The event will feature food from Chick Fil-A, which is included with your entry fee. In addition, we will be serving desserts and refreshments, all included with your entry fee. The game will be No Limit Texas Hold Em’ Poker and will continue until a winner is declared.
The top finishers will receive prizes for their efforts. Prizes include: A 2 day/1 night hotel stay at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, located in Hollywood, FL, $50 Best Buy gift card, and others.

Next Wednesday (September 23), the FIU College of Law Sports & Entertainment Law Society will be hosting its Third Annual Florida Marlins Night at Landshark Stadium in Miami, Florida.
The event will feature Derek Jackson, the General Counsel of the Florida Marlins, and David Samson, the President of the Florida Marlins. Each speaker will provide their valuable insights into their day-to-day activities and will be speaking about Sports & Entertainment Law and related issues.
The event will be an excellent opportunity for FIU SELS Members to interact with prominent members of the Sports Law community and gain some valuable insight into what it takes to secure a position in the Sports Law field. In addition to being a great learning experience for students, the evening will also feature the Marlins playing the defending World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
We hosted three sports agents/attorneys yesterday at the FIU College of Law. The attorneys were David Canter, Faudlin Pierre, and Adam Kenner.
The speakers were all excellent and discussed several topics related to the field, such as negotiating deals, how to become an agent, what it takes, and others.
